Plasmapanel® platform enables lightweight, scalable cabin quieting beyond conventional wearable ANC solutions.
Lausanne, Switzerland – April 7, 2026 – Sonexos, a Swiss-based technology company developing solid-state, plasma-based active noise reduction solutions, today announced its participation in Aircraft Interiors Expo 2026, taking place in Hamburg, Germany, from 14–16 April 2026.
At Aircraft Interiors Expo 2026, Sonexos will engage with prospective cabin equipment partners, seating and monument suppliers, completion specialists and airline customers on the evaluation, integration and future adoption of its embedded active noise control solutions for aircraft interiors. Based on the company’s Plasmapanel platform, these solutions are intended for deployment within seating, suites, berths and monuments to create quieter local environments around the passenger in complex aircraft cabins.
Sonexos is advancing the Plasmapanel platform as a lightweight, scalable active noise control solution for demanding three-dimensional spaces. Powered by Sonexos’ patented plasmacoustic technology and AI-enabled real-time processing, the platform is designed to deliver broadband noise reduction while supporting compact, practical integration within aircraft interior systems.
The opportunity is clear across both commercial and private aviation. Cabin quietness remains a major contributor to passenger wellbeing, premium cabin experience and sleep comfort. For airlines, interior designers and completion specialists, there is growing interest in solutions that improve rest and comfort within the cabin itself, without relying solely on bulky passive treatments or personal wearable devices.
Unlike conventional wearable ANC approaches that depend on generating anti-noise at or near the listener’s ears, Sonexos is pursuing a different path based on programmable active sound absorption. By absorbing incident sound directly, the company’s embedded active noise control approach is intended to create a quieter acoustic zone around the passenger’s seated or resting position. This opens a new possibility for improved inflight rest and sleep comfort without requiring passengers to wear noise-cancelling headphones.
Aircraft cabins are complex three-dimensional acoustic spaces, and improving comfort within them requires more than conventional point-solution noise control,
said Mark Donaldson, Founder and CEO of Sonexos.
With the Plasmapanel platform, we are extending active noise control into embedded cabin systems that can be integrated directly within seating and monuments. Our objective is to help create a quieter and more comfortable passenger environment, including new opportunities for rest and sleep without dependence on wearable noise-cancelling devices.
Mr Donaldson brings longstanding aviation active noise control experience to this field. Prior to Sonexos, he founded Phitek in New Zealand, where the company developed SmartJack, an in-seat active noise reduction connector platform that achieved broad adoption in commercial aviation. Through Sonexos, Mr Donaldson and the wider team are now extending that active noise control heritage beyond personal listening interfaces towards embedded active sound control for larger and more complex cabin environments.
